Motive Column :

Motive column

Motive column is a height of imaginary column of air that produces a pressure equal to difference of pressure between bottom of downcast & upcast shaft.


So, M = D × [ T(u/c) - T(d/c) ] / T(u/c)



M = Motive column

D = Depth in meter

T(u/c) = Temperature in Upcast (kelvin)

T(d/c) = Temperature in Downcast (Kelvin)


Note : Kelvin = 273 + ⁰C
