GATE END BOX: GEB is an Electric Panel which is used for feeding Electrical power to the Electrically operated mining machineries such as LHD, SDL, UDM etc.
PILOT CORE PROTECTION
1. PILOT CORE: It is Low Voltage Carrying wire in the trailing cable from GEB to Machine.
2. Low voltage 12V is fed in the Pilot Core from GEB.
3. If the return circuit is completed through Earthing Core, then pilot relay actuates.
4. If the circuit does not complete due to Earth disconnect, then the pilot relay does not actuates and Power Trips.
RYB wire- 3 phases
Green wire- Earthing Core
Black- Pilot Core
HOW MINING EQUIPMENT EARTHING IS DONE?
Electrical Panel Earthing is taken from Cable armour.
Cable armour is connected to Earth pit on surface.
Earthing to the mining machines is provided from GEB through Trailing cable Earth Core.
WHAT IF EARTHING OF MINING MACHINE IS DISCONNECTED?
During any phase-earth fault in the machine, the protection system might not work, since the machine is not earthed.
Machine power might not trip during this Earth fault condition.
Machine and operated both might be at Risk in such situations.
