Roof bolt & its components

Roof Bolt:- It is made of MS or TMT steel bar & fixed in a hole by drilling vertical in roof & it grips the strata & support the immediate roof.

• it is a Active support mainly used for supporting roof in bord & pillar workings.

Its components:-

•Rod Length :- <1.5 m or 1/3rd of

gallery width

•Diameter :- 20 to 22 mm

•Threading length :- 150mm

•Bearing plate: -

Length×width× thickness 150mm×150mm× 8mm

•Hexagonal nut:-

30mm (height or length)

Important points:-

1. Distance b/w two bolt is 1meter.

2. The maximum distance of first roof bolt from face should be 1.8 meter.

3. Roof bolt takes load about 8 to 10 tonnes.
