Roof Bolt Principles

•Bolt acts on the basis of three principles:-

1) Suspension effect:-. The immediate layers of roof are held by anchorage(लटकाना) from a strong bed above.

[Roof bolt, Roof की immediate परतों को ऊपर वाले strong bed से जोड़कर Roof की strength or load capacity को बढ़ा देता है, इसे ही Suspension effect कहते हैं।]

2) Beam effect:- The bolts clamp several thin layers of roof rocks into a thick beam.

[Immediate roof में कई पतली व कमजोर परतें होती हैं, जिसे Roof bolt के सहारे बांधने पर वह एक मोटी व मजबूत परत बना लेता है, जो एक Beam की तरह कार्य करती है इसे ही Beam effect कहते हैं।]

3) Keying effect:- If there are fractured blocks in the roof, bolts prevent dislodgement (गिरना) of some blocks. which inturn do not allow movement of others.

[यदि Roof के ऊपर fractured blocks/ पत्थर मौजूद है, तो Roof bolt उनको बांधकर गिरने से रोकता है, इसे ही Keystone/Keying effect कहते हैं]।
